The San Andreas Rift Zone bisects this portion of Los Padres National Forest, creating a distinct linear depression through Cuddy Valley. This geologic feature dictates the local topography, separating the high elevations of Tecuya Ridge to the north from the Sage Flat and Seymour Creek drainage systems to the south. Small mountain settlements and recreational enclaves are dispersed throughout the area, including Pine Mountain Club, Pinon Pines Estates, and Lake of the Woods.
