1954 Map of Culvers Gap

USGS Topo · Published 1968

About this map

Stokes State Forest blankets the ridge of Kittatinny Mountain, forming a high wooded divide between the Delaware River valley and the lower townships of Frankford and Sandyston. The topography is dominated by the prominent water gap at Culvers Gap, where the Appalachian Trail follows the ridge line above the waters of Culvers Lake and Lake Owassa. This mid-century view shows a landscape defined by seasonal recreation and small rural communities, dotted with numerous organization camps such as the Madeleine Mulford Girl Scout Camp and the Sakawawin Boy Scout Camp.
