Cuyamaca Peak and the surrounding high country of San Diego County are defined here by a dense concentration of mid-century organizational camps and state park infrastructure. The area is anchored by the Cuyamaca Reservoir and the historic Stonewall Mine, situated near Stonewall Peak. The landscape transitions from the peaks and flats of Cuyamaca Rancho State Park toward the arid Anza-Borrego Desert State Park to the east. Numerous recreational and educational sites are visible, including Camp Wolahi, Camp Tapawingo, and Camp Cuyamaca.
