Dailey Spring and the surrounding rangelands of McCone County define this landscape, where the seasonal hydrology of the Big Dry country is meticulously recorded. The terrain is deeply incised by the drainage network of the Sand Creek forks, including the W Fork Sand Cr, Middle Fork Sand Cr, and E Fork Sand Cr. These waterways, along with Porcupine Cr, flow through a series of coulees and breaks, including the evocatively named Dead Man Coulee in the north. Man-made interventions in this arid environment are evident at Tveten Reservoir, a critical water source for local livestock. A sparse network of section-line roads such as Hubbard Rd and Pass Rd provides the primary access across the varied elevations of the high plains, connecting isolated natural features like Barrel Springs and Coal Cr.
