Noatak National Preserve encompasses much of this sub-arctic landscape, where the northernmost reaches of the De Long Mountains meet the high-latitude drainage basins of the Arctic Borough. The terrain is defined by the braided path of Wrench Creek, which flows westward through a series of high valleys and across township lines including t32n r17w and t32n r16w. This 2015 study records a wilderness area managed for conservation, showing a landscape almost entirely devoid of modern infrastructure or permanent settlements. Instead, the map detail focuses on the subtle hydrology and sharp elevation changes of the Brooks Range, illustrating the natural boundaries of this protected federal land before any significant modern development or roads were introduced to these remote foothills.
