Cotton Plant stands at the northern edge of this White River Basin landscape, where the flatlands of eastern Arkansas are defined by an intricate network of slow-moving water and wetlands. The Cache River meanders through the western half of the map, flanked by numerous oxbow lakes and sloughs such as Big Buck Lake, Little Buck Lake, and Heifer Lake. These features, along with the Mud Slough and Robe Bayou, indicate a terrain historically subject to seasonal flooding and drainage challenges, reflected in the man-made Ditch Number 1 cut through the center of the survey.
