Des Arc and the surrounding Prairie County agricultural lands are defined by a complex network of waterways and rural infrastructure. The landscape is crisscrossed by numerous streams, including the central Big Creek and the meandering Wattensaw Bayou to the west. Evidence of long-standing community hubs is found in the distribution of family and local burial grounds such as Oak Grove Cem, Lakeside Cem, and the remote White Cem.
