Dodge sits at the base of the steep Arcadia Ridge in western Wisconsin, where the Green Bay and Western railroad winds through the lowlands along the Trempealeau River. This 1973 survey illustrates a landscape of deep valleys and narrow ridges, where agriculture and early industry are defined by the sharp topography of the Driftless Area. Numerous family-named coulees, such as Bohris Valley and Doelle Valley, branch off the main river plains, each containing small cemeteries and farmsteads that serve as critical markers for genealogists and local historians.
