About this map

The Dolores River carves a deep path through the southwestern Colorado landscape, defining the character of this terrain at the junction of Dolores and Montezuma counties. The river is flanked by dramatic landforms including Dolores Canyon and Narraguinnep Canyon, revealing a complex system of drainage and erosion that includes Williams Draw and Cow Canyon. Much of the eastern portion of the map is managed as part of the San Juan National Forest, where the topography is dotted with numerous small-scale water management features like the Doe Reseeding Reservoir, Bradfield Reservoir, and Hydraulic Reservoir. Evidence of local infrastructure and resource extraction is visible through the Bradfield Bridge crossing and a Gravel Pit reservoir, illustrating how the remote canyon country has been adapted for ranching and forest service access.
