Manti-La Sal National Forest occupies the southwestern corner of this survey, where the high-elevation plateaus of the Colorado Plateau meet the Utah-Colorado state line. The landscape is defined by a series of massive flat-topped features, including Steamboat Mesa, North Beaver Mesa, and South Beaver Mesa, which rise sharply above the winding course of Beaver Cr. The terrain falls away into deep incisions like Gateway Canyon and Lumsden Canyon, leading toward the Dolores River in the northeast.
