2017 Map of Dora

About this map

The North Fork River and its many tributaries, including Spring Creek and Zachs Br, define this Ozark landscape as it stood in the late 2010s. The terrain is characterized by a dense network of named hollows such as Robinson Hollow, Slaughter Hollow, and Steam Mill Hollow, which drain into the river system. Settlement is concentrated around the small communities of Hebron, Richville, and Dora, the latter sitting just north of the unique geologic feature known as Dora Sink. Local history is preserved through numerous family and community burial sites like Inman Cem, Fish Cem, and Pleasant Mound Cem. Much of the eastern portion of the map is protected within the Mark Twain National Forest, while the boundary between Douglas and Ozark counties bisects the southern half of the sheet near Sweeton Pond.
