About this map

The Los Dos Pueblos Grant and Canada del Corral Grant define the historical land division of this coastal corridor, where the Santa Ynez Mountains drop sharply toward the Pacific Ocean. This late-twentieth-century landscape is marked by the infrastructure of the central coast petroleum industry, including numerous Oil Wells, Oil Tanks, and an Oil Sump near the Devereux Lagoon. The Southern Pacific railroad runs parallel to the coastline, passing through the settlement of Naples and crossing several deep canyons like Dos Pueblos Canyon and Eagle Canyon. Educational and residential sites such as the Ellwood Union School and Devereux Ranch School reflect the mid-century development of the Goleta area, balanced against the protected slopes of the Los Padres National Forest to the north.
