Umatilla National Forest and Whitman National Forest converge in this high-elevation terrain along the border of Umatilla and Union Counties. The landscape is defined by an intricate network of ridges and canyons, including the prominent Drumhill Ridge and the ominously named Fiddlers Hell. Water sources are densely concentrated throughout the area, with numerous named springs like Sacajawea Spring, Indian Spring, and Hoskins Spring feeding into drainages such as Five Points Cr and Mount Emily Cr.
