About this map

Dunlap and the surrounding rural townships of Radnor, Medina, and Kickapoo are shown during a period of transition as the northern edge of Peoria begins its northward expansion. The landscape is defined by the winding course of Kickapoo Creek and its tributaries, including Hickory Run and Fargo Run. Local history is well-preserved through several small burial grounds such as St Clements Cem and Dickison Cem, while the southern portion of the map shows modern development like the Kellogg Golf Course and the Resurrection Cemetery. Notable landmarks of the era include the Grange Hall near Kickapoo Creek, the Evans Mill Bridge, and a Drive-in Theater situated near the newer residential clusters around Orange Prairie. The presence of the Chicago and North Western rail line and the Forest Park and North Western Trail highlight the transportation corridors that historically linked these farming communities to the city.
