Local history is preserved in several small burial grounds such as the Carlsen-Larsen Cem and Oakfield Cem, reflecting the early settlement patterns of the surrounding townships. The emergence of modern conservation and public spaces is visible at the Elk Horn Creek Recreation Area south of the main settlements. This survey captures the transition from traditional agrarian land use to the established rural infrastructure of the late twentieth century, including a prominent Radio Tower and municipal Sewage Disposal Ponds.
