Burlington Northern tracks cut across the northern edge of this Gosper County landscape, following the high ground above the dissected drainage basins of south-central Nebraska. Surveyed as part of the Missouri River Basin development program, the map documents a territory defined by its water resources and the Frontier Co Gosper Co boundary line. Numerous groundwater sites, labeled simply as well or wells, are scattered throughout the sections, reflecting the essential infrastructure of a plains agricultural economy in the early 1970s.
