Enigma sits at the heart of this South Georgia landscape where Berrien, Tift, and Irwin counties converge. The town is oriented along the east-west corridor of the local highway and rail lines, surrounded by a dense network of agricultural roads and namesake family landmarks. The north is dominated by the Alapaha River, which winds through swampy bottomlands past Ferry Lake and Hammock Lake, marking the county boundaries. Local history is anchored by sites like Enigma Cem and the settlement of Riverbend to the northeast near Riverbend Cem. The terrain is defined by a high concentration of small lakes and ponds, including Lake Patrick, Lake Bobben, and the Horseshoe S Lake complex, illustrating the complex hydrology of the coastal plain.
