Equality anchors the northwestern corner of this landscape, situated near the confluence of the North Fork Saline River and the main Saline River. The terrain transitions sharply from the flat river bottoms and the agricultural drainage of Lawler Ditch in the north to the uplifted topography of the Wildcat Hills further south. This southern region is characterized by a dense network of wooded ravines and ridges, including Poplar Hollow and Burnt Shanty Hollow, much of which is protected within the Shawnee National Forest. Small rural settlements like Leamington and Kedron are scattered throughout the hills, connected by winding routes such as High Knob Rd and Peabody Rd. Local history is preserved in numerous upland burial sites, including Barnett Cem and Leamington Cem, which mark early communities established before the consolidation of regional agriculture and forestry.
