Pinecrest and the isolated Trail Center represent the small human footprint in this expansive portion of the Big Cypress National Preserve near the border of Collier and Monroe counties. The landscape is defined by the hydrologic flow of the Everglades, featuring the Daghoff Slough and dense vegetation clusters like Corn Dance Hammock and Hunters Hammock. These hardwood hammocks and the Roberts Lakes Strand provide critical elevation and habitat within the surrounding wetlands.
