Fish Springs Flat dominates this high-desert landscape in Juab County, where the stark geography is defined by a series of managed water bodies. These pools, including Curlew Pool, Egret Pool, and Shoveler Pool, provide a stark contrast to the surrounding arid terrain. Along the western edge of the Black Rock Hills, the legendary route of the Pony Exp crosses the desert floor, tracing a path through a region also shaped by local mineral interests, as evidenced by Flourspar and various access roads. The eastern portion of the sheet rises into the highlands of Goshoot Canyon, while drainage is channeled through Fish Springs Wash. This 2014 survey illustrates the intersection of historical transit routes and modern water management in a remote part of the Great Basin.
