Three Leagues occupies the northern reaches of this Martin County landscape, where the terrain is defined by a series of ephemeral basins and salt-crust features characteristic of the Llano Estacado. The hydrologic profile is particularly distinctive, centered on the prominent basin of Alkali Lake and supplemented by the mineral-rich waters of Soda Springs and Sulphur Springs to the east. These features suggest a history of localized water sources in an otherwise semi-arid cattle and oil region. A dense grid of county roads, including Co RD 4700 and Co RD 4100, provides access to the agricultural parcels and ranch lands that dominate the area, while Fm 2002 serves as the primary north-south corridor for the local community.
