Fort Wilkins (historical) stands as the centerpiece of this coastal survey of the Keweenaw Peninsula, anchoring the land between the protected waters of Copper Harbor and the inland reach of Lake Fanny Hooe. The landscape is defined by its maritime history and isolation at the tip of Michigan, marked by the Copper Harbor Lighthouse and the Copper Harbor Rear Range Lighthouse. Beyond the historic military site and the adjacent Fort Wilkins State Park Cemetery, the terrain rises toward East Bluff and transitions into a dense network of waterways.
