Little Powder River winds through this section of Campbell County, carving a path between the northern Deer Creek Breaks and the southern Rochelle Hills. The landscape is defined by the ephemeral drainages typical of the High Plains, including the namesake Fortin Draw and several others like Oiler Draw and Winter Draw. These watercourses feed into man-made catchments such as Dutch Reservoir and Baumfalk Reservoir, vital infrastructure for ranching and local water management in a semi-arid environment.
