Fountain Green and the surrounding township at the western edge of Hancock County reveal a landscape deeply etched by the drainage of the La Moine River system. The terrain is defined by the incision of Middle Creek and Cedar Creek into the upland prairie, creating a network of ridges and hollows such as Rattlesnake Den Hollow. These natural corridors historically influenced the placement of early settlements and rural infrastructure, seen here in the tight cluster of family and community burial grounds including McConnell Geddes Cem and the Lincoln Catholic Cem.
