About this map

Los Padres National Forest contains a complex network of drainages and high-altitude terrain in this 1944 Army Corps of Engineers and Forest Service survey. The landscape is defined by the deep incision of the Santa Barbara Canyon and its many tributaries, including Alamo Canyon and Goode Canyon. Human presence is concentrated around family-named outposts and ranching infrastructure, such as the Snedden Ranch and its associated Reservoir in the northern reaches, and the relatively level ground of Cox Flat near the center of the quadrangle.
