Freda stands as the primary namesake settlement in this sparsely populated region of the North Dakota plains, situated just south of the Morton County and Grant County line. The landscape is defined by the wandering path of Dogtooth Creek, which drains the northern sections of the survey, and the prominent elevations of the Three Buttes to the west. This agricultural landscape is organized by a rigid grid of rural roads, such as 38th Ave and 73rd St SW, which trace the section lines of the Public Land Survey System. A vital point for local genealogy and history is the Bethesda Cem, located east of the central settlement area. The map illustrates a contemporary view of the northern Great Plains, where family farmsteads are connected by a network of numbered avenues and streets across the open prairie.
