The Clatsop Plains stretch across this coastal landscape, defined by a series of long, narrow lakes including Sunset Lake and Cullaby Lake that run parallel to the shore. These water bodies, separated from the Pacific Ocean by a complex of dunes and low-lying coastal prairie, highlight the unique hydrology of the Oregon coastline. Near the northern edge, the Clatsop Plains Cem and the MTA Camp Rilea military installation mark long-standing uses of the land.

Residential development is concentrated in the southern portion of the map within the communities of Gearhart and Seaside. The confluence of the Necanicum River and Neawanna Creek dictates the layout of Seaside, while the Seaside Municipal Airport sits just east of the primary residential blocks. To the east, the terrain rises sharply into the timbered slopes of Clatsop Ridge, where numerous small tributaries like Abercrombie Cr and Johnson Cr begin their descent toward the plains.
