The confluence of high-desert canyons and the Pecos River defines this remote portion of Terrell, Crockett, and Val Verde Counties. The landscape is characterized by deeply incised drainage systems, most notably Geddis Canyon and South Geddis Canyon, which carve through the plateau toward the river. Unlike the arid surrounding heights, specific water sources such as Johnson Seep, Geddis Springs, and Sweetwater Springs suggest critical survival points in an otherwise unforgiving terrain.
