Lake Superior dominates the northern reaches of this coastal Michigan landscape, where the waters meet the rocky transition of the Point Abbaye Reef. The terrain is defined by the sharp rise of the Huron Mountains, anchored by Bald Mtn near the boundary of Baraga and Marquette Counties. The settlement of Glovers Corner serves as a local landmark in a region where travel is shaped by the drainage patterns of the Huron River, Little Huron River, and Gulskog Cr. A network of rural routes, including St Cyr Rd and Goodreau Dr, provides access to the shoreline and the timbered interior. Offshore, Lighthouse Island sits isolated in the lake, a reminder of the maritime navigational needs along this stretch of the Upper Peninsula.
