1989 Map of Halalii Lake

USGS Topo · Published 2001

About this map

Pu'uwai and the coastal landing at Nonopapa anchor this late-twentieth-century study of Niihau’s southeastern coastline. The landscape is defined by its unique hydrology, centered on the significant ephemeral basin of Halalii Lake and its smaller neighbors, Halulu Lake and Aliaki Lake. These interior waters contrast with the coastal terrain of Pākaua Point and the steep incisions of Kanahā Valley and Kala'ala'au Valley to the north.
