1949 Map of Hames Valley

USGS Topo · Published 1963

About this map

Hames Valley and the surrounding Monterey County hills appear here as they were surveyed by the Army Map Service in the late 1940s. The landscape is defined by the broad drainage of the Salinas River in the northeast, where the Southern Pacific railroad corridor cuts through the settlement of San Bernardo. This river valley stands in contrast to the deep seasonal drainages of Garrissere Canyon and Mincey Canyon that carve through the westward uplands.
