Haystack Mtn rises above a landscape defined by significant water management and erosion control in Dickens County. The local terrain is characterized by numerous small reservoirs and stabilization projects, including the Soil Conservation Service Lake 1 and a sequence of structures along the drainage of Duck Cr and Cottonwood Cr. These engineered features reflect long-term efforts to manage the watershed and soil integrity in this part of West Texas.
