Hernandez Lake and its surrounding high-desert landscape are the focus of this 2010 survey of eastern New Mexico. The area is defined by a series of drainage features and depressions, including White Draw, Salt Draw, and Sand Draw. These natural catchments are essential to the regional ranching economy, feeding numerous named tanks and basins like Salt Lake and Lewis Lake.
