About this map

The Everglades and Francis S Taylor State Wildlife Management Area dominates the western portion of this landscape, where the Dade-Broward levee separates the wild marshlands from the rapidly developing edge of Miami. During the late 1980s, this area served as a critical interface between industrial utility and expanding institutional infrastructure. Extensive quarrying operations are visible throughout the central sections, creating a grid of deep pools just west of the Floridas Turnpike Homestead Extension.
