The vast wetland terrain of Northern Minnesota defines this area near the Lake Of The Woods Co and Beltrami Co border. Dominating the central-eastern portion of the sheet is Hilman Lake, a modest water body surrounded by a landscape almost entirely comprised of marshes and peatlands. The hydrography of the region is further marked by the presence of Miller Cr, which flows through the northern reaches of the quadrangle. This map documents a largely undeveloped landscape where the Public Land Survey System grid, including townships t156n r32w and t157n r33w, provides the primary structural reference across the saturated ground. The lack of roads or established settlements underscores the remote, natural state of this boreal environment.
