Holly Beach sits at the southern edge of this coastal landscape, where the local street grid including Heron Rd and Mallard Rd meets the vast expanse of the Gulf of Mexico. The area is defined by a complex hydrology of brackish water and low-lying landforms, dominated by the large central basin of Mud Lake. To the north and east, the terrain transitions into a network of smaller water bodies and islands, such as Oyster Lake, Rabbit Island, and Saint Johns Island, all connected by winding channels like Oyster Bayou and West Fork Calcasieu Pass.
