1983 Map of Hornersville

USGS Topo · Published 1984

About this map

The town of Hornersville serves as the primary hub of this Bootheel landscape, defined by a complex network of engineered drainage that reshaped the terrain for agriculture. The massive corridor of The Floodway dominates the western half of the map, flanked by Hornersville Junction and the protected lands of the Hornersville Swamp State Wildlife Area. This hydraulic infrastructure, including Cole Ditch and the Little Treasure River, replaced the natural waterways of Prairie Island to create productive farmland.
