Huff sits along the western bluffs of the Missouri River in this modern survey of Morton County. The landscape is defined by the expansive Lake Oahe and a series of prominent landforms that rise above the prairie, including Ambulance Butte, Signal Butte, and The Hogback. These summits provided natural vantage points long before the development of local roads like Co Rd 80. To the north and west of the river, the drainage of Rice Cr and N Br Cantapeta Cr carves through the undulating plains.
