Patrick Creek Campground sits at the northern edge of this terrain where the Middle Fork Smith River meets the main Smith River. This 1982 survey depicts a landscape defined by the rugged drainage basins of the Six Rivers National Forest, showing a network of forest roads and trails that traverse significant elevations. The Old Gasquet Toll Road follows the northern river corridor, a remnant of early regional transport infrastructure. To the south, industrial and survival markers are scattered across the peaks, including a Mine and Prospect on the slopes of Gordon Mountain, and the Upper Coon Mtn Shelter near the summit of Upper Coon Mountain.
