The Ikpikpuk River snakes through the Arctic coastal plain in this North Slope quadrangle, demonstrating the dramatic meanders characteristic of this low-gradient landscape. The river's winding path dominates the terrain, creating complex oxbows and shifts in the hydrology across the t3n r13w and t3n r12w townships. A rare point of vertical relief is found at Little Supreme Bluff, where the river has cut into the elevated banks of the surrounding tundra.
