About this map

Thacker Camp and a network of mining operations define this section of the East Range at the close of the 20th century. The landscape is heavily marked by industrial mineral extraction, with numerous prospects, mine shafts, and several open pit mines concentrated in the high elevations. These workings overlook the deep drainage of Inskip Canyon and its tributaries, including Left Hand and Right Hand, which cut sharply toward the broad Buena Vista Valley to the west.
