Rocky Mountain National Park and the adjacent Roosevelt National Forest meet at the Continental Divide, creating a landscape defined by high-altitude glacial features and dramatic peaks. The eastern slope features the Wild Basin, where numerous subalpine lakes such as Thunder Lake and Bluebird Lake feed the St. Vrain Creek system. On the western side, the East Inlet Trail provides access to a chain of remote water bodies including Lake Verna, Spirit Lake, and Fifth Lake.
