Grimes Flat dominates the central topography of this Great Basin landscape, situated where the high desert flats of the Kobeh Valley meet the rising slopes of the Monitor Range. The 1989 data reflects a remote ranching and grazing environment along the border of Lander Co and Eureka Co, where water sources are the primary landmarks. Significant infrastructure is limited to isolated points such as the Grimes Ranch and several named water improvements including Lincoln Well, Camino Well, and Grimes Flat Well.
