Jacks Place sits at a crossroads in the high desert of Lake County, where the volcanic geology of the Oregon interior is on full display. The southern portion of the quadrangle is dominated by the Four Craters Lava Field, a stark landscape of basaltic flows and volcanic vents that includes Green Mtn and East Green Mtn. These formations indicate a complex eruptive history that has shaped the drainage patterns of the region, including the intermittent flow of Walker Cr.
