This 1957 survey was produced as part of the Department of the Interior's Missouri River Basin development program, documenting a remote region defined by ephemeral water sources and high-desert relief.

Evidence of seasonal occupation or range management is found at Leisner Cabin and Green Cabin, isolated structures situated near the headwaters of East Fork Sheep Creek and Cottonwood Creek. A network of unpaved paths, simply labeled Trail, provides the only access through the Twin Butts and the steep canyons that cut through the reservation boundary, reflecting the land's primary use for livestock grazing and watershed management during the mid-century.
