Jessie Lake and the smaller Little Jessie Lake dominate this portion of the Chippewa National Forest in the mid-1990s. The landscape is a complex network of glacial lakes and wetlands, where the Turtle River flows south into Bowstring Lake. Human activity is clustered around the small settlements of Talmoon and Bowstring, with the latter supported by the Bowstring Municipal Airport.

The presence of the Bowstring Indian Reservation boundary across the southern portion of the sheet reflects the overlapping jurisdictions of federal forest lands and indigenous territory. Local history is marked by quiet landmarks such as Greenwood Cemetery and Evergreen Knoll Cemetery, while the northern portion of the quadrangle shows signs of local industry through several Gravel Pits near the shore of Jessie Lake.
