The North Fork Jump River and South Fork Jump River converge here, defining a landscape dominated by riparian wetlands and managed forests in northern Wisconsin. In the early 1970s, this area at the border of Price and Taylor Counties was characterized by the sprawling Township Corners State Wildlife Management Area and the Chequamegon National Forest. The network of logging and backroads, including White Birch Road and Buck Run Road, provides access to the numerous rapids and small falls found along the river forks, such as Big Falls. Notable hydrological features like the Steve Creek Flowage and Marsh Creek illustrate the low-lying, water-rich nature of this glacial terrain, which remained largely undeveloped except for scattered gravel pits and the public Wayside Park.
