The Sahwave Mountains dominate the central and southern reaches of this Pershing County landscape, where the high desert terrain transitions toward the Kumiva Valley in the west. This 2014 survey captures a region defined by its critical water sources, which were essential for survival and ranching in the Great Basin. Hidden among the slopes are West Juniper Spring, Juniper Spring, and North Cottonwood Spring, alongside the southern Cottonwood Spring. These points of interest are joined by the prominent Juniper Pass, which provides a natural transit point between the Sahwave range and the Blue Wing Mountains to the northeast. To the north, the elevation culminates at Black Mtn, overlooking a largely undeveloped expanse of public land divided by the Public Land Survey System grids of T29N and T28N.
