About this map

Lake Clark National Park dominates this high-altitude landscape in the Kenai Peninsula Borough, where massive glacial systems shape the mountain terrain. The Tanaina Glacier sits at the northern edge of the sheet, feeding the hydrological network that defines the valley floor. Deep glacial carving is evident in the path of the Glacier Fork Tlikakila River, which flows through the center of the quadrangle to join the main Tlikakila River in the southeast. This 2017 survey illustrates the complex relationship between alpine ice fields and the braided river systems of the Alaska Range, showing a wilderness area preserved within the national park boundaries where elevation contours and water flow dictate the character of the land.
