Keosauqua sits prominently within a sweeping bend of the Des Moines River, serving as the central hub of this Van Buren County landscape. The town's grid, featuring streets like Broad St and Front St, is oriented toward the river's path, while the Keosauqua Municipal Airport occupies the flat land just to the east. Northwest of the main settlement lies Pittsburg, situated where Rte J40 crosses the water near the Pittsburg Cem.
